I know many of you have probably already seen these clips along the way... but if you haven't, Taylor Mali's dialogues are probably some of the most truthful and hilarious bits of work out there... have a look :)

that first clip is unreal Tannis. I was actually laughing out loud in the caf by myself today while I watched this. I think that he really paints a picture of what our job is as teachers and why we do it. Cant get better than making a difference!
ReplyDelete“Those who can, do. And those who can’t, teach”
ReplyDeleteI have heard it myself. Why do some look down on the teaching profession? I have to admit I have thought about my choice in becoming a teacher and sometimes I have felt the need to continue on with my education so I can enter into another profession...something that makes more money and is highly regarded :S ah where is this coming from?!?! These thoughts contradict my own belief that teaching is a very important and is an essential profession that educates and inspires our youth!
But I think some people cannot see the importance of a teacher like they see the importance of a doctor or a lawyer or other professionals. Why are we not always seen as ‘professionals’? We are educating the youth of our country; possibly the future leaders, ambassadors, doctors, veterinarians etc of our country. This guy touches a little bit on salary of a teacher. Even our salary does not reflect on the importance of our job- I know that has a lot of other influencing factors and a whole other topic! Us, as teachers have a very important role that will take a lot of our energy and time, but we are essential and can make a difference!
