How do you tame wild horses?

I have a concern with one of the classes I plan to teach. It is my favorite class to teach in terms of subject area by far. However, the class is full of wild horses. Their current teacher does not have them tamed at all. Safety is a big concern in this class. I am wondering how I can gain a bit of control and make it through to the spring without having a serious injury when they have been running wild for five months already. The only advantage I have come up with so far is that I am tall, which isn't going to help very much at all.

Has anyone ever worked with wild horses before?
Any ideas?

  1. Oh those wild horses! Unfortunately if I was in your situation you are going to have to start from scratch. And you are going to have to be a tall drill sargeant. You are legit going to have to crack the whip and let them know that you aren't their old teacher and that you expect better. Although not gonna lie, that is gonna suck on a practicum cause you don't really wanna show up your teacher (as they are writing a very important report on you) and you can't use lines like I'm not 'so and so' and that doesn't fly in MY class. But i would say that you are going to have to definitely be prepared and have some good consequences set up for when you first start and you are going to have to implement them. But you are going to have make sure you start on the very first day. And then hopefully once they see that you mean business and actually follow through with your punishments hopefully they will come around. Well that's my 2 cents. Best of luck!! I look forward to hearing how it works out!
