So i thought i would ask a Dr. in Education what is their best tip for entering the practicum?
"BEST TIP.....have solid lesson plans (doesn’t have to be fancy).....be thoughtful.......AND set limits to your work....although the practicum is demanding it isn’t meant to kill you. All makes sense to me and it is simple if you think about it.

I think those are great points Kim.
ReplyDeleteI want to be successful in my practicum but I also don't want to be miserable during my practicum!
I think limits are key, especially for teaching doing extra-curricular activities (Coaching, musicals, etc.)
ReplyDeleteThis can be really tough to do, but I've heard many teachers say that they do all of their work at school and don't take any home with them. This helps give them limits and makes sure they are still putting in time for themselves at home. They set "business hours" for themselves, say 7am-6pm and they are at school during those hours working. No matter what, at 6 they go home and they don't take any work home, not even emails.
I'm not sure how realistic this is going to be for our practicum, but I think it's important to set aside at least 1 hour for ourselves to make sure we are staying physically and mentally/emotionally healthy.
